‘The Signs are Showing’ by Nick Booth
‘The Signs are Showing’ is a series of hard-edged, geometric work by artist Nick Booth taking inspiration from bold use of signage and symbols found in urban environments. Nick states that ‘Surface application is taken to two extremes; smooth gloss and coarse texture, adding depth and tactility to the work and heightening the optical tension overall.’ The paintings, known only by numerical order can be arranged uniquely by viewer to create a never ending number of compositions. As Booth continues with the series, new compositions will be forever developing.
There is a real emphasis on community within the work as each piece will be separated from the rest but the connection between the series and the flexible nature of Nick’s art will remain constant no matter where in the world each painting may be.
Nick will also be donating 15% of all profits to charities helping to support people with loneliness.
