Wilson Imini

Nigerian-born artist Wilson Imini aims to highlight the consistent themes within the Black Experience and to portray young, black people’s relationships and connections. Wilson is a self-taught artist who began drawing cartoons and later transitioned to realist paintings by expressing his ideas of Black youth.

Imini’s portraits are full of vibrant colours and textures that capture the beauty of the subject and the life they live. He has also painted portraits of Barack Obama and Kanye West, among others, as a ways of celebrating their achievements and strength in character.
