Nick Macneil

Nick Macneil is heavily influenced by organic forms, light and landscape. In his paintings, Macneil attempts to present an abstracted organic ambiguity. Some of Macneil’s works may allude to water, plants, shadows and other worldly environments, as well as gestural, shape and colour dialogues within the compositions.

Macneil has been strongly influenced by painters such as Amy Sillman, Agnes Martin, and Markus Lupertz, but also thinkers and writers in other disciplines including Alan Watts and the neuroscientist Donald Hoffman, and his book 'The Case Against Reality'.
