Luciano Suárez
Luciano Suárez's work has transgressed from the figurative, towards an abstract interpretation of figures, that compels scrutiny with compositional structures that are sometimes clear and sometimes hidden behind several layers of paint. His work by him lends to the philosophical sphere with intellectual engagement necessary to appreciate the subjective aesthetic of his work by him. Foundational to his ethos of him is that it is both the understated significance and the spectacle of art that is crucial to artistic integrity.
Luciano's latest pieces are an investigation on the processes and their traces, on what is not visible in the first instance, turning the surface into memory.
With this idea Luciano began to work by covering parts with layers, superimposing and hiding one with the other until making it disappear, creating a game with the different thicknesses, layers and the very concept of invisibility; This gesture allows the elements represented to coexist under the same support, showing the two sides of the coin under an intermediate plane and obeying analytical and reflective approaches, which try to reduce the concept of painting almost to the scheme, to the minimum, to the essence and the idea of what it is. Figuration becomes abstraction proposing a journey in reverse, from the inside out of the painting, opening questions and different possibilities to the viewer about what is represented in them.
