Fabio Almeida

Born in Brazil, Fabio Almeida is an artist who is influenced by the Modernist movement which became widespread across Latin America during the post war period. The aesthetics of architects and designers such as Oscar Niemeyer, Lina Bo Bardi and Roberto Burle Marx form the building blocks of Almeida's visual language. Despite the tip of the hat towards past generations, Fabio’s work is filled with realism and current preoccupations seen the the present day, especially for those caught up in the chaos of big cities and modern technology. But his isn't a nostalgic revival of the optimist and order pursued by that generation, his work is laced with a layer of realism and current preoccupations of present day, specially those related to life in large urban areas and the age of information.

Almeida uses a variety of materials including papers, markers, letraset transfers and bleach.
