Ethel Coppieters
Ethel Coppieters paints portraits of women full of contradictory evocations and mixed feelings. Faces full of compusure and resilient bodies. The aftermath of the chaos, the aftermath of the storm. Her paintings, free of all temporalities, speak of the intimate and the universal, in portraits of women deconstructed in their proportions, and delivered from the injunctions of beauty that we know. The confrontation of forms and colours is part of her artistic exploration as she tries to create a new imaginary in the public space by imposing the existence of her frescoes.
