Wu Wei
Wu Wei is a Chinese, multi-media artist known for his ‘Beastly’ canvases that he constructs from cut-out paper. Wu’s work is full of vivid, vibrant colours and almost lifelike textures that ripple on the canvases surface. He often looks to mythical creatures for inspiration and tests the boundaries between the real and the divine.
Wei first studied at Henan University and with a BFA in 2004 before graduating in 2012 from the Department of Experimental Art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Wu Wei has since gone on to win awards such as the 6th Anniversary Award for the New Artists Space Award in 2015 and has exhibited work internationally with many galleries and institutions.
