James Alfred Hart
James Alfred Hart has been heavily influenced by colour and memory, his paintings are a window into his world. After finishing art school he primarily worked in vibrant figurative paintings and sculpture, and it wasn't until 2013 that he moved into abstract whilst travelling around Brazil for six months. Since then this has been a key motive to go in search of ever more vibrant hues and adventures from which to draw his subject matter, he has since travelled up the length and width of India twice on a quest to source rare pigments and further inspiration.
Ever an experimenter James rarely plans out his whole paintings beforehand, preferring to work spontaneously and letting the paint take him where it needs to. Often it is not until the painting has been completed that the subject matter becomes clear to him, and he invites you into the works through their titles.
