Brianna Bass
Brianna Bass’ paintings are evolving systems derived from geometries of the colour wheel, infusing colour theory with the poetics of math as a language for understanding the true nature of phenomena on macro and micro scales. Brianna sets up fixed parameters in colour, like the rules of a game, and then dissolve them with operative functions to form a valence where the concrete springs apart into the ephemeral. Here, the infallibility of perception is held in suspense.
